Event Invite for Texas A&M Local Farm Aid.

May 5th. Jim Hightower. Local Food. Live Music.

May 5th 5:00pm at The Campus Community Garden: Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to meet and listen to Jim Hightower, enjoy local food from area farmers, and kick back with live music.

We need to know where our food comes from and fight for local, sustainable agriculture that links food producers directly with consumers. We live in strange a time where the food system has gone awry. When a child canäó»t eat a PB&J sandwich with out fear of salmonella poisoning, something has gone badly wrong. We need to know what’s in out food and where itäó»s from,

Let’s support farmers, not agribusiness giants. There was a time when Texans could do important business on a handshake. Feeding our families is important business, but you cannot shake a corporation’s hand. Last time I checked Chiquita bananas arenäó»t grown in TX, so why are they sold at the on-campus Farmersäó» market for the nationäó»s premiere agriculture university?

If weäó»re going to secede or succeed, weäó»re gonna damn sure need our local farmers!

Tuesday, May 5th, at the on-campus, student-run, organic community garden, we are having Texasäó»s own Jim Hightower, the nationäó»s most famous populist, come speak about sustainable agriculture and sign his books while students connect you with real produce from real Texas farmers, the whole time enjoying some live music from local musicians!
