Imagine for a moment that the house you live in and everything
in it disappeared. All of your possessions, all of your
memories, all of your dreams, gone forever.
Now, imagine that happening at house after house, block
after block, for a square mile.
That's what happened in Parkersburg, Iowa, on May 25th.
A tornado left most houses destroyed, some houses damaged,
and many families left in the wake of destruction trying
to rebuild their lives from scratch.
I admit I have a personal stake in this. My father and
his immediate family were from Parkersburg, and I have
an uncle who still lives there and whose house from the
kitchen floor up is gone. I identify with the people of
Parkersburg because we share many of the same experiences.

So, on behalf of the people of Parkersburg,
I ask for your help. Please contribute whatever you can to the
relief effort. For more information on what is being done and
